Get to Know Us

Meghan has been training dogs and other animals for as long as she can remember. In fact, she remembers training her childhood cat to "sit", "beg", and "fetch"! She has always been intrigued by human and animal behavior, leading her to pursue a degree in Psychology with a focus in Learning Theory. In college, she participated in multiple semesters of independant research in her school's pigeon lab studying behavior. After graduating, she took a job at a national pet store chain as a dog trainer, and found her calling. After interning with and assisting Laurie Luck of Smart Dog University she has since gone out on her own to form Canine Lifestyle Academy. She attends multiple seminars and conferences every year to keep current with the newest in dog training and behavior science.

Meghan's Dogs

Kyra: A three-year-old rescue German Shepherd Dog who Meghan has had since she was a tiny puppy. Kyra has struggled with many anxiety issues in her life, but she has come a very long way. Thanks to years of training and her new brother Marcus, Kyra is a happy dog who loves meeting people and taking trips to Petsmart.

Marcus: The new addition, Marcus has only been with the family since April of 2010. He is also a three-year-old German Shepherd Dog, but he had a much different start in life. He spent much of his life in a backyard until adopted by Meghan and her boyfriend. Amazingly, he does not suffer from any anxiety issues even after his rough beginning, but he is so very excited about everything he sees that he needs some training on relaxing in public. He is getting there!
